one more day
I say,
as I regard my unblemished skin,
my toxic frame,
my raging sea of a brain.
one more day,
I pray,
as I smile a smile that reaches my eyes,
and smother the screams,
and summon the lies.
one more day,
I'll stay,
and I'll hold myself up with a cloud of smoke,
an empty belly,
and a tired out joke.
one more day,
I say,
as I meet my gaze.
unable to cry,
unable to live,
unable to die.
one more day,
and maybe things will be okay.
