Half a Song

Title says it all. Inspiration was good, and then I couldn't finish it. But it's here anyway.

Hair in your eyes and throat running dry,

Eyes stare back from the mirror, you try,

To hold steady as you begin to cry,

Oh you try,

Oh you try.

You try to calm down, it’s your own life at stake,

You’re only as good as the choices you make,

But this is a thirst that you just have to slake,

Have to slake,

Have to slake.

And you’re so scared of growing old that you’ll end up dead,

All the pills you took to quiet voices in your head,

In your head.

So what if you’re angry, so what if you’re wrong?

The fire that’s hotter burns half as long?

To hell with it all, at least you’ll be strong!

You’ll be strong.
